Compositing Reel Cut November 2021

Please contact me for the password to access this video. The password protection is in place due to DHX Media/ Wild Brain's policy about footage sharing. The "Sand Sliders" shot was removed as the dust trail is similar to the dust-smoke used in "Holed Up" footage.

00:00  Intro Title Card, Charlie’s Colorforms City 1, “Mystery Charlie.”
Cut from the end of Harmony “Brain-bow” show effect; created for the series by Ken Turner, Senior Development Designer/ 2D Animator. Maya glitter animation is rendered by Tristan Mailman, Pipeline TD.
Nuke.
 
00:03  Doozers 2, “Holed Up.”
The animated rocks are sourced from a previous shot made by the animation department. A short sequence was rendered and combined with a locator constrained to the vehicle to emit rock particles. Dust clouds are adapted from the series jet-pack tool developed by James Dalziel.

00:08 – Inspector Gadget 2, “Gadget and Oatsfunkle.”
Tornado provided by animation department; however, the geometry is used to emit white motion blur streaks. Characters also brightened to contrast from background.

00:14 – Charlie's Colorforms City 1, “Charlie is Super.”
Harmony sequences are from the design department and 2D Animation work is by Ken Turner. Motion-blur for the squiggles, glow behind character, and timing for when elements appear is arranged in Nuke.

00:17  Inspector Gadget 2, “Midnight MADness”
Roto-lightening shapes, timed on-off using echo node, skeleton graphic and cast glow composited in Nuke. Matches look of reoccurring effect, established in “Jurassic Jerk” (2017).

00:24 – Little People 2, “Braver Together.”
Existing animation department footage of fireflies used to render hold-out passes. These sequences were then made to glow yellow, flicker on-off, and also scaled to fit the background.
Maya, Renderman, Nuke.
 
00:29  Space Ranger Roger, “Roger Sticks the Landing.”
Animated scooter wheel and goo mesh provided by Pipeline TD. The impact shape berm was rendered using NCloth and Nuke roto-masks to integrate into the foreground.

00:34 – Kingston Paradise
Arranged muzzle flashes and cast glow, also adjusted smoke footage placement.
After Effects.
 
00:40 – Space Ranger Roger, “Roger Sticks the Landing.”
Confetti is a show standard for an action that reoccurs in every episode, constructed by Don Urquhart, CG Supervisor and Daniel Lefebre, Lead Compositor. The glow pulse is animated in Nuke.

00:43 – Charlie's Colorforms City 1,  “Mystery Charlie.”
Nuke roto-mask and noise node used to make the traveling ink colour transition. Cartoony droplets are Nuke particles, based on the tool developed by Tristan Mailman, Pipeline TD.

00:49  Title Card, Charlie’s Colorforms City 1, “Mystery Charlie.”
Same footage used from Intro Title Card, selecting a different part of the footage.
